Hartagyugh Chicken Project

Get chicks from eggs, which we will be able to distribute to financially disadvantaged families of the Hartagyugh community. It will contribute to the elimination of poverty in the Hartagiugh community and will enable the population of Hartagiugh to have their own funds. It is planned to provide each family with 40-50 chicks. Giving an opportunity to the people of Hartagiugh, as well as the financially disadvantaged people living in the neighboring villages, to have their own small “farm” of chickens.

Hartagyughis located in the Spitak region of Lori province. Hartagiugh was founded in 1801-1828. The village was founded by Western Armenians who migrated from Rshtunik, Mush, Basen, Erzurum, and Alashkert. The height above sea level is 1730 meters. The administrative area of the village is 23.59 hectares. The distance from the regional center of Vanadzor is 45km. The distance between Spitak and Gyumri is 25km. The population is engaged in animal husbandry, cultivation of potatoes, grain, flax, and various agricultural crops. The total population of Hartagiugh is 1125 people, and the number of households is 343, of which 17 are below-poverty households and 122 are in poverty.

Program:

Establish a chick factory in the Community, also conditions where the chicks can be kept for 10-20 days, then these produced birds will be handed over to the residents of Hartagyugh, who will continue to breed the chicks. Chick breeding will be done by the youth council of Hartagiugh headed by the administrative head of Hartagiugh, a room for egg processing and care of chicks will be allocated from the funds of the Hartagiugh settlement, and we will also take care of the electricity costs necessary for the production of eggs. In parallel, the families who are to receive chicks will spend 10-20 days with the youth council of the community carrying out the work of breeding chicks, which will enable them to master the most competent approach to breeding chicks.

Necessary resources:

1. Incubators that will give you the opportunity to get chicks from eggs.

2. Eggs that will be fertilized and have high breed value.

3. Rooms where we can place the incubators and then keep the chicks for 10-20 days (will be provided by the administrative head of Hartagiugh).

4. Electricity to run the incubators and provide lighting for the chicks (will be provided by the administrative head of Hartagiugh).

5. Feed to feed chicks for 10-20 days.

6. A diesel generator will be used when the Community is without electricity.

7. Workers who will work with the incubators until the chicks hatch, and workers who will breed with the hatched chicks, approximately 10-20 days.
